Nigeria's Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun is proposing an increased tariff got alcohol and cigarette in the country.
In a memo sent by her ministry to the office of the President, the Minister suggested that a two-part tariff be approved for tobacco products. This includes a 20 percent 'ad valorem' tariff and a specific tariff of N1 per stick to be placed on tobacco products.
Mrs Adeosun is also advocating for a specific tariff 35kobo per CL to be placed on beer and stout and N1.50k to per CL on wines and N2 on spirits and other alcoholic beverages.
