IBB CONFIRMS STATEMENT ISSUED ON HIS BEHALF BY HIS MEDIA AIDE

After former President Ibrahim Babangida's aide, Mr Kassim Afegbua issued a statement on behalf of the elder statesman, a new twist developed when a certain rebuttal emanated denying that the statement was never authorised by President Babangida.

The former president has confirmed to the media that the statement was indeed issued by him and that the denial was not authorised by him. He however, reiterated that the statement has been wrongly misconstrued by the media. In a chat with Thisday Newspapers, President Babangida reiterated that the statement was meant to gear Nigeria towards rebirth and that it was not a letter to Buhari but an expression of his thoughts.
