Former Minister and co-convener of the Bring-Back-Our-Girls Group, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili was on Tuesday arrested by the police. In a social media post on her twitter handle, Mrs Ezekwesili maintained that she and other members of the BBOG group were detained without a charge by the police.
Reactions have continued to trail the detention of the activist and her colleagues. SERAP Nigeria twitted as follows:
"The reported false imprisonment and detention of @obyezeks and members of the @BBOG_Nigeria makes a mockery of @MBuhari's claim that this government is one of change that is governed by the rule of law. The authorities should immediately release them and allow them to freely exercise their rights.
Kofi Nigeria Info FM twitted thus:
"Police detains Oby Ezekwesili.."
Cataleya with twitter handle @princesspeaceay twitted as follows:
"Oby Ezekwesili reveals she has been detained by the Nigerian Police in Abuja.
Responding to the detention of Mrs Ezekwisili and her group, a Nigerian resident in London, UK, Mr Pascal Ezemma told Naira Chronicles that security agencies in Nigeria are given President Buhari a bad name by their actions of late including the purported arrests of clergy men. He stated that unless the security agents were acting under instructions from the president, he must do something fast to caution his security chiefs.
