A Nigerian citizen, Mr Femi Ajayi has taken to his social media page (facebook) to decry the inability of the Nigerian people to learn. In his post, he shows how in 1977, President Muhammadu Buhari, then minister of petroleum was assuring Nigerians of an end to fuel crisis:
(Daily Times 1977)For how many years?? Why do we keep electing these folks? These folks after over 50 years of “independence will come and campaign to us with “electricity ” water” “ road and the basic responsibilities of any Government to its people. Fuel will be N5/per litre and we bought it, shouting change not asking what pre-structure has been put inplace. I remember when “we were voting for JEG then what was our point? He holds a Doctorate degree, the first Nigerian president to hold this prestigious paper, so Nigeria will benefit from his intellectuality”, in the end we were disappointed(some people though) We shouted Buhari, the messiah, the upright, “the change we need: where are we today? To some he has failed to others he is evolving. WHEN WILL WE MASTER THE SCIENCE OF ELECTING GOOD LEADERS? Oh yeah, the 16 years rule of PDP caused all of these, that is so on the surface, maybe APC didn’t remember nor consider that before making all the promises to make snow fall in the desert. Went out to buy fuel this morning and the only option was Black market, the woman said it’s 5,000 for 10litres, I didnt know what to say or do, I sat in the car for about 20 mins thinking..... Another election is coming some of us are already shouting Atiku, some are saying Buhari carry go... WHEN WILL WE PAUSE TO CONSIDER WITHOUT SENTIMENTS/ POLITICAL/PERSONAL GAIN? When my people?
