Examples.......
* In an attempt to look successful and prosperous in ministry even when you have a bad attendance you have to exaggerate that the whole place was full and packed.
* Too much cover up in this thing called ministry.
* You have to put up an outward appearance for fathers to see you as successful so they can preach for you.
*Because you don't want to be seen as struggling in ministry we have to put on mask and a deceptive facade to be accepted.
*When you are even sick you can't open up for prayers from other men of God just for the fear not to be seen as lack of faith or something.
*We can't even publicly recognise a colleague who is doing well, we wont comment on their post, we wont even attend their event etc.
* When we attend a pastor's friend function such as party, book launch etc we wont give but say to the friend you will hear from me later.
* As if we rejoice over a colleagues predicament and that become our validation of our knowledge and success.
*Dont mind him he has a small church.
*In our heart of heart we secretly waiting for something to happen to a fellow pastor to proof a point..is that not witchcraft?
*You see a pastor has invited someone to preach for him and you call the pastor to discredit the invited pastor...PHD
My conclusion is this....
*When we understand that we are complete in Christ we wont compete
*We need to understand that only Christ can validate us.
*We didnt call ourselves and its Christ that called us so him alone must we please.
*We need to understand that ministry is full of seasons. Very interesting.
*EVERY PASTOR MUST READ THESE TWO BOOKS
1. FINISHING STRONG by Steve Farrar
2. PASTORS AT GREATER RISK by HB London and Dr Neil B. Wiseman.
(I didn't write this article because I needed personal encouragement. These are my observations over the years of ministry and I'm just sharing. I'm also in a thinking mood on my bed now so don't write me a personal message. Whatever you choose to write must be general for all of us to learn from. Thanks for understanding.)
